The Boise Public Library has a fun activity going where you have to read fifty books during the year. There are fifty different qualifications that need to be met as well. One of them is to read a Nordic Noire. I had never heard of that genre, or I suppose subgenre, before. The book that I started reading is The Keeper of Lost Causes by Jussi Adler-Olsen. It's a part of her Department Q Series. I haven't gotten very far into the book but it's a very intriguing story so far.

Before choosing a book I read up a little on the genre and was a bit nervous. I used to love books that fit into the police procedural category, which this genre seems similar to, but after having a baby they honestly make me feel a bit anxious. I think they make me distrust the world a little too much which has been harder while raising a baby. I chose this book because while doing my research I learned that this one was a little more mellow compared to other series and books in the same genre. It will probably be super fun. Who knows, maybe this will make me excited about police procedural books again.

For gaming, I went back to play more of Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee. I forgot how charming of a game it is. Lately, our son, Marcel, has really enjoyed watching Pokemon: Kids TV. He loves the nursery rhymes and flinging his chubby arms along to the dances and things. It's adorable. I've found that watching him enjoy something I enjoyed so much as a kid has been wonderful. It's also made me in the mood to play all the Pokemon games. I was super tempted to pull out Pokemon XD a few nights ago but there are way too many books and games I need to catch up on.

I'm really hoping to beat Final Fantasy X by next week. I've taken a while to play through this one just because my evenings have been pretty packed with editing and reading. It's a great game and I'm excited to see where it goes.
