Anansi Boys

Hey everyone, I just started reading a new book a couple days ago. I finished Going Postal by Terry Pratchett and instantly recommended it to my mom the same day. If you want my opinion on it please visit my Book Thoughts page. My newest book I'm reading is called Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman.

First off, I love how this book has a mythology in it that I'm not very familiar with. I pride myself on knowing a lot of Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology but I had no idea who Anansi was. It's been fun looking up Western African mythology while reading the book. I want to learn more about Anansi and the other gods and stories from that area.

I've been learning a lot about dialogue as well. Gaiman has a way with creating interesting dialogue that fit the characters perfectly. The way each character talks is very different and it adds to the characterization substantially. It often feels like there don't have to be many dialogue tags because it's obvious who's speaking and how the reader should feel while they're speaking.

I've definitely been inspired to do some dialogue practices tonight to see if I can better the dialogue in my own books..

Shiny Hunting and the Road to Stardom

What I should be playing is Mario 64 because I'm behind on a lot of games I've been wanting to play. The problem is LOVE Pokemon Legends Arceus and shiny hunting in it. I've never had very good shiny luck. I think I was playing Pokemon sun and had gone up against 300 plus eevees in a row, using a shiny hunting method, and never found a shiny. In this game, I've had more luck, partly because the chances are a little better. I've found five shinies so far, including gligar, bibarel, goomy, mime Jr, and hippopotas. It has been such great fun and I'm hoping to find a few more so I can make a shiny team.

In Mario 64 I've been trying to find a star a day and it's been fun. I haven't rage quit once though I've learned I'm super bad at reading signs in the game. Am I the only one who struggles with that?... Probably.

What are the books you're reading and the games you're playing right now? What are some dialogue practices you've done for your own writing? Have any of you caught any fun shinies recently?
