This week I read my last two books of spooky season. I finished Agatha Christie's A Body in the Library and Kat Richardson's Greywalker. It was super fun reading a few mysteries this October and leaking into November. I adore fantasy but I am always a sucker for a good detective story. In college I took a Detective Fiction course. It was incredibly fun and gave me a new appreciation for the genre. My favorite part of mystery novels, and I've probably said this in past articles, is that they often center around tragedy and how people react to that tragedy. I'm amazed at the talented writers who work hard to show genuine human emotion in such a heavy situation.

I of course have read a few Agatha Christie novels. They always keep me guessing until the end which is why I love them. A Body in the Library was no different. I had never read a book by Kat Richardson before. At first, I wasn't a huge fan of the main character in Greywalker. However, when I was about halfway through with the book, I started loving her and felt more emotionally invested in her as a character.

The book itself was great and many parts unexpected. Knowing nothing about the book beforehand, including a book jacket summary, I was pleasantly surprised. As the book continued it got more and more complicated and was filled with twists I hadn't expected. The world itself was our own but it was filled with wonderful, new things that made me keep reading a chapter more than I had planned.

In videogames, I have continued playing Monster Hunter Rise with my brother and my childhood best friend. That has been such a delight being able to talk with them even though we all live far away. I also downloaded the Harvestella demo. I've hardly gotten into it but the world feels beautiful and I'm already intrigued about the gameplay is going to be.

Thank you for reading this article. Keep dreaming and daydreaming of all the wonderful worlds in your head.
